Gran Pollada Bailable, project co-created between allie ft JoX and Olga Rojas(allie´s aunt). This project reimagines the traditional "pollada" (a popular Peruvian social gathering) as a happening, merging cultural and artistic practices in a dynamic and interactive environment. We used the cajones de chela (beer crates) as curatorial elements, transforming them into objects that not only serve as practical items but also as tools for engaging the audience in an unconventional dialogue. The setting, which took place in the unfinished second floor of my home, was re-conceptualized as a "gray cube," an open and unfinished second floor that allowed the event to unfold organically, emphasizing the raw and ephemeral nature of both the location and the performance. The project highlights the intersection of everyday life and artistic practice, challenging formal boundaries and exploring the relationship between space, community, and performativity.
What is a Pollada Bailable?

A pollada bailable is a fundraising event in Peru where people sell pollada (a dish of fried or grilled chicken with sides) while hosting a party with music and dancing. These events are common in working-class and peripheral communities, often used to raise money for medical bills, funerals, or personal emergencies.

The pollada tickets were sold as original art pieces, each one individually intervened with unique elements. These tickets, measuring 10x7 cm, were hand-crafted and altered, making them collectible items rather than traditional event tickets. The intervention added another layer to the project, transforming a commonplace object into a work of art and inviting the audience to consider the intersection between everyday culture and artistic expression.

TARJETA RECIBIDA, TARJETA PAGADA
(Received Ticket and Paid Ticket), which further contributed to the symbolic exchange and transactional aspect of the event. These interventions turned a simple ticket into an artwork, giving it a dual function as both a collectible and a participatory element within the event’s broader conceptual framework.
